National Election Called

 The Edict of Farmoria was announced by Our Imperial Majesty recently, declaring that a National Election shall take place. Days later, the official declaration of the Election including the time table and population (electorate) distribution was released which can be viewed here. The Election Notice stated that the three day long election period was a mere 23 days away, leaving little to no time for lengthy deals and campaigning missions. 

The Electoral Commission recently closed nominations, recieveing a total of 23 candidate nominations from 6 parties to fill the 9 available seats. This hotly contested election will decide the future of the nation for years to come. 

When the Deputy Leader of the Opposition originally asked for the Prime Minister to call the national election on the floor of parliament, the Prime Minister stated 

"The Government Rejects the offer.''

The Deputy Leader of the Opposition then lashed out at the Prime Minister, declaring that the only reason she refused was because she knew she wouldn't win. The call for the election came after a number of electoral controversies and by-elections which ultimately resulted in the Emperor releasing the declaration of candidacy upon the advice of the Leader of the Opposition. 

Out of the 23 registered candidates, 4 are Conservative candidates, 2 are National Democratic Candidates, 2 are Greens Candidates, 6 are Liberal Candidates, 6 are Equity Candidates and 3 are Leftist Alliance Candidates. 

The registration of Greens Candidates was the most suprising to the Lurdentanian News Network after much controversy in relation to there leader Sergeant Lachlan P. in regards to his involvement in the Civil War and his trial. He can be seen switching his region of candidacy from Seaspray to Farmoria in hope of defeating the Equity Stronghold and replacing its current MP, HIH Princess Emma, the Deputy Prime Minister. 

The conservative candidate in Farmoria, CPL. Jesse H. in collaboration with the Conservative Party leader has made a preference deal with the Farmorian sitting member, placing the member second on the ''How to Vote'' card.

Out of desperation from the sitting opposition, Opposition Leader HIH the Prince of Terentia released the following formal press statement:

"Our aim for this general election is to finally score government. For too long our strong ideals have been supressed by the failing Katrina Government and we will finally be putting an end to this.

To help our cause, the Liberal Party has made it known that it will be in a coalition with the Leftist Alliance Party & Greens if the need arises in order to secure a majority."

This statement has caused controversy, resulting in the Prime Minister announcing a formal press conference, to be documented by the Lurdentanian News Network and posted publicly. 

Another interesting electorate for this election will be the Electorate of Lachtoria, which is being contested by the Former Mayor who resigned in 2021 from the Mayoralship in order to pursue national politics however lost the election to the current sitting member, Lord Lachlan F, Baron of Lachtoria. The rivalry between the candidates is likely to continue into this election with a reported small poster already been left in the mailbox of a local citizen.

HIM Rory Removed as Speaker, Lord Harrison Elected

In a suprise announcement from the Equity-Leftist Coalition on the 18th of April Parliament Hansard, they announced their intention to field their own candidate for the office of Speaker of the House of Commons, instead of endorsing the long time serving Speaker, HIM Rory I.  This action comes after Government-Opposition relations come to an all time high regards to tension. The Leader of the Opposition called the Government self concerned frauds who had no purpose but to better there own personal endeavours. Further statements came from Conservative Backbencher Lord Viscount Kevin of Lachtoria as he spoke up against the increasingly 'corrupt' actions of the Government. New Military Territory Annexed!

Maratania Parade Ground  This has been named the Maratania Parade Ground, officially declared a Military Parade Ground by General His Imperial Highness Prince Matthew on the night of the 18th of March. The Parade Ground was first trained on by a small contingent of present, off-duty troops who said the environment and 'pretty landscapes' offered an ideal place for future military activities. Accompanying the General in command, Major General the Rt. Hon. Hudson was also present. During the parade, the Major General signed off on the recruitment of an additional three new recurits for the LA. The River  The River has been accessed as a good location for activities such as beach landing trainings, and naval activities.
