Senatorial Election Called! Candidates Confirmed One Day before Polling Day.

In a historical unanimous vote in the House of Commons, the Senate (upper house of the Lurdentanian parliament) was formed. The Senate will seat 5 representatives from a nationwide ballot paper and will be most likely considered an "Easy gateway for politicians who failed in the National Lower House Election".

A Majority in the senate, based off previous election results, is considered unlikely, with the largest party in the previous election only scoring 38.6% of the entire national vote, which would only reach around 2 Senatorial Quotas (with 16.66% being the quota for election).

Candidates in the Senatorial Race
Equity Candidates

Lord Lieutenant Colonel Lachlan F.
Lord Lieutenant Colonel Lachlan F. was elected previously to the House of Commons, before being defeated in the April 2022 election to the Conservative Candidate and respected local noble, Lord Viscount Kevin M. The disappointing result saw the Equity Party loose a former front bench cabinet member. It is likely that around 30% or more will be in favour of the equity party, making Lachlan (who is number one on the ticket) a likely option to serve as leader of the government in the senate.

Private Charlie C.
Private Charlie C. was the 2022 April General Election Equity Candidate for the seat of Glochenspeer, however was landslide defeated by incumbent and locally popular Lady Rubi. It is likely that if the Equity Party see's a result of 30%+ than Charlie will have a secured spot in the senate, assuming Leftist Alliance original voters/preferences flow to the Equity Party.

His Highness Lord Kaydan
In a shocking move, the Consul of Lurdentania confirmed to the LNN that his Equity Party Membership had been approved, and that he would be contesting the third position on the party ticket. For any chance at winning, the Equity Party would need to score above 40%, and would need to gain a further 10% from preferences. His chances of election are unlikely,.

Conservative Party
Lord Sergeant Major Murray M.
Lord Sergeant Major Murray M. currently serves as the Director of the Rural Branch of the Conservative Party. Lord Murray contested the 2022 election against Liberal Party leader and leader of the opposition, His Imperial Highness Prince Matthew, where he was narrowly defeated by one vote. In the previous election, the Conservative Party scored 20%, which would mean they would pass the quota of 16% for one senate seat, hopefully aiming for two. The Chances of Lord Sergeant Major Murray M.'s re-election are considered likely.

Corporal Jesse H.
Corporal Jesse H. is a respectable and long serving military man, who is likely to recieve a large chunk of military vote. The Conservative Party, by fielding two military candidates, is likely to recieve additional votes from veterans and actively serving personnel. However, to be elected, Corporal Jesse. would require an additional 13% vote for the party (going off last elections results). For this to happen, Corporal Jesse would most likely need to recieve the bulk of preferences.

Liberal Party Candidate
Lady Baroness Kay Lani C.
Lady Baroness Kay Lani C.contested the April 2022 general election, where she was defeated against incumbent rival and cabinet senior minister Lord Colonel Harrison. Lady Baroness Kay Lani C. has been a long time serving member of the Imperial Staff, and has served in numerous other administrative positions, earning her a public rebutation. In the previous election, the Liberal Party polled around 19%, making it fairly likely that the Baroness will become the Leader of the Opposition in the senate.

Greens Candidates
Mr. Samuel H.
Despite many scandals surrounding the Greens Party, Party Leader Sergeant Lachlan has announced that the party will be fielding its Furlong General Election candidate, Mr. Samuel H. for the position of Greens Senator. Mr. Samuel H. has been rather quiet in the means of national politics and activity since his landslide defeat in the General Election, and with the Greens polling a mere 3.4% nationally in the previous election, their chances of securing a senate seat are unlikely.

National Democratic Party Candidates
Sir Lieutenant Martin E.
Sir Lieutenant Martin E. previously served as the MP for Seaspray, before being defeated by the Equity Candidate, Madam Alison E. Sir Lieutenant Martin E. has recieved support in areas such as Farmoria and Seaspray from disgruntled centrist greens voters, who have turned to the NDP for support. Despite running as a Far-Right independent in his mayoral campaign, the NDP leader has been welcomed as a centrist-left candidate. However, winning will be a problem. His party polled a mere 8% in the National Election, 8% less than the quota. They would be hoping to secure more disgruntled major party voters and possibly get pushed over the line with Greens preferences.

Mr. Cameron Q.
Fielding a second candidate is an optimistic decision from the Party, considering there inability to win any seats in the federal election and slim chances on securing any this election, however General Election Myrth Candidate Mr. Cameron Q. who was defeated by Myrth Incumbent MP Conservative HIM Rory I, is holding the second place on the NDP ballot. His election, however, would require a huge 20% increase in NDP vote, something which is unlikely to happen.

Candidates make last minute stands as the citizens will head to the polling booths tomorrow on the 10th of June.
