Election Called

 In an announcement to the House of Commons on the 24th of August, 2022, His Imperial Majesty the Emperor delivered a short speech. 


" As per the power invested in me as the Emperor and Monarch of the people of the Empire of Lurdentania, I do hereby inform the House that a national election to elect a new term of members and senators shall take place on the 9th of September. Registrations of candidates shall take place on the 26th and shall end on the 2nd of September." 


Immediately, the party machines went to work. The approval rating of the Equity Party has been reduced, with recieving 38% in the previous senatorial election and expected to score even lower this election, with polling suggesting as low as 29%. With this decrease comes the emergence of another Centrist party, notably the National Democratic Party who successfully elected their party president, Lieutenant Martin E. to the senate. This time, we can expect a number of new candidates to contest hot seats, like the newly repopulated seat of Hazartica, which has had a population increase of  160% since the previous election.


Lets momentarily take a look over the most competitive seats. 

Seaspray District 
The 15 person electorate of Seaspray, based in Seaspray City was the seat of the current Senator, Lieutenant Martin E, who held the seat after a shocking by-election win earlier this year in march, only to later loose it to the Equity Candidate, Madam Alison E. only months later. This election, no confirmation regarding if the former member will contest this seat or re-contest his senate seat. Other than that, many minor parties such as the Greens and Leftist Alliance have contested the seat in the past, usually to no avail. 

Hazartica District 
Often regarded as a safe seat for sitting member, Colonel Harrison C, this time round the demographics of the electorate have changed signficantly, with many more citizens being inagurated within this electorate. Common competitor and current Senator Kaylani C. of the Liberal party is likely to organise a new candidate for the district, campaigning strongly on issues like regional economic growth in order to successfully secure the Liberals a majority winning seat. 

Lachtoria
Former Equity Seat, recently won by the conservatives in the 2022 snap election,, is still a fifty fifty chance between sitting Conservative member Lord Viscount Kevin M. and former Equity Minister Lord Baron Lachlan F.  No specific polling data for Lachtoria has been released.

HIM Rory Removed as Speaker, Lord Harrison Elected

In a suprise announcement from the Equity-Leftist Coalition on the 18th of April Parliament Hansard, they announced their intention to field their own candidate for the office of Speaker of the House of Commons, instead of endorsing the long time serving Speaker, HIM Rory I.  This action comes after Government-Opposition relations come to an all time high regards to tension. The Leader of the Opposition called the Government self concerned frauds who had no purpose but to better there own personal endeavours. Further statements came from Conservative Backbencher Lord Viscount Kevin of Lachtoria as he spoke up against the increasingly 'corrupt' actions of the Government. The Greens Scandal

 Multiple weeks ago, after an electoral bordering restructure, the City of Seaspray became its own electorate, formally being merged with the Electorate of Farmoria. The Electorate of Seaspray subsequently underwent a by-election to elect a new MP for the seat. The registration period saw the signing up of three candidates for the seat representing three different parties.  The candidates include (prev.) Lieutenant Mr. Lachlan as the Greens Candidate (and party leader), Madam Alison as the Equity Party Candidate and Mr. Paul P. as the Leftist Alliance candidate.
